I’ve already received my first issue, and it’s pretty impressive, I must say!  Lots of useful articles in this magazine with strategies, techniques & tools that you can implement into your own web sites.  Sure, there’s probably lots of info like this on the internet somewhere, but I’m old school, I like reading a good ole paper publication, something that I can actually hold onto & sink my teeth in.  Besides, there’s too many other things to be doing while on the web (like making money), and I don’t want to spend that time “reading.”

Our rottweiler doesn’t exactly have hip dysplasia, but something very similiar wherein her bones aren’t lined up where they are suppose to be. 

Our vet recommended 2 products:  for the pain, enteric coated aspirin (which dissolves in the intestines and not the stomach, which is better for your dog), an analgesic 325 mg tablet, for arthritis pain.  The vet said just buy the generic version as they’re exactly the same as the brand name, only cheaper, and you get more pills.

The second item:  Dog Paws Joint Maintenance.  These are wafers that you can just feed to your dogs as treats.  It comes in a 90 wafer bottle.  I thought to myself, yeah right, like my dog is just going to eat these like a treat… no way… never gonna happen!  But, she does!  Most of the time at anyrate, occasionally we have to put a small piece of cheese on top of it for her to eat it, which is ok, she deserves a small extra treat once in awhile. 

Additionally, I really didn’t think that these wafers would actually do THAT much good for the dog.   Boy, was I surprised!  We started off giving her the recommended dose of 3-4 spread out throughout the day.  After a week of giving her these, we completely stopped giving her the doggie aspirins!  This stuff is amazing!!! February 18, 2009 is d-day for television sets, meaning no more being able to watch TV if you don’t get a special converter box!

Yes, if you haven’t heard, the government has mandated that all tv broadcast signals be updated to digital technology.  Guess they feel that it’s really important that we see everything on tv in high definition!  lol.  Like that’s more important than other things they could be mandating……   Gotta be able to see those tv shows more clearly!!!!!

So what it boils down to, is that we have to spend an estimated $50 - $70 for this new gadget to hook up to our tv sets, that some companies will make millions off of (I wonder if the govt has an interest in some of these manufacturers?  hmmmm…..), all so that we can watch TV.  Oh yeah, and this “box” that we are being forced to buy, is only good for ONE tv - so if you have 2 televisions in your house - you HAVE TO buy 2 boxes!

The good news, however, is that the government is passing out coupons good for $40.  Not sure if this is going to be a rebate of some kind, an instant discount coupon when purchasing, or how this will work.  There’s a special website to go to to get this coupon:  http://www.dtv2009.gov   of course, good luck logging onto this one… it’s been VERRRRY busy…..  you also can try and phone it in:  1-888-DTV-2009 (1-888-388-2009).

Owners of older TV sets will be required to have these new boxes, while some of the newer televisions are suppose to be digitally equipped.  I wonder what “newer” means?  I’ve got 3 tv’s in my house!   Suppose I’ll have to go shopping for a few boxes at my favorite place:

When you work from home, and spend all your time on the internet, whether it’s checking emails, maintaining your websites, tracking down new opportunities, etc., you really should take a break during your work day just to refresh yourself.

Who knows, you may end up coming up with some new ideas to earn yourself some extra income, or benefit in some other ways.  If nothing else, just remember that all work and no play makes johnny a dull boy. 

Occasionally, I like to take a break by going and playing poker.  Not only does it break up my day and give me some fun during the day, but it also serves to generate extra exposure to some of my websites! 

How, you say?  Well, you see the site that I play at, pokerstars, allows you to have a picture that represents your “player” at the game.  I use an appropriate symbol that coincides with one of my interests, but at the same time anyone who recognizes it always asks me about it… so I use the chat feature on the poker website to talk to them about this interest & then send those people to my websites!  Sure, it’s not a huge amount of traffic that I get this way, but hey, it is free + it’s targetted traffic that is actually interested in this type of site. 

It won’t be considered as spam either, or get you into trouble with the poker sites for illegal promotion or broadcasting, since the other players are really the ones asking about it.  No different than casually mentioning it to a friend in a normal conversation.  Just be sure the other players are the ones who ask first!  You can’t be pushing visiting your sites down other peoples throats, as then you will probably be in violation of the poker website’s terms of service.  You can’t just blatantly type in your websites in the chat box & tell others to go visit, but when somebody else starts up a conversation about this picture I have, who am I to deny them the right to go “take a look” at my website.    See how that works?  They wanted to know about it, I didn’t force anything upon them.  Of course, I don’t usually mention the fact that I own these websites, I just respond to what they ask about & then tell them about this cool website…  www mywebsite com that I like.  :)   Which isn’t a lie, because I DO like the website… even if I do happen to own it!  Don’t you like the websites you own???

Take a break during your work day doesn’t always mean just goofing off instead of working, especially when you can promote your websites at the same time.  But it IS good to be able to accomplish both when you can.   Nice, huh?

Seems like in today’s fast society of everyone wanting everything quick, we want stuff NOW, not later.  But are they items that we actually want, or just merchandise that seems to be like something that we really want, because they are available right now?

For me, most of the time, it’s not really stuff that I want.  However, every once in awhile there actually are some goods that I do want & I’m finding more and more of them from Amazon.  Lots of places on the net to get a deal of the day, but this good old store sure is surprising sometimes on the merchandise that it sells.  And you can truly get some good deals on these items, but of course, only if you act fast!

Living out in the country, with the stores a distance away, shopping via the internet is a blessing!  No waiting in lines, no travelling.  I can acquire the items I want without ever leaving my home!  That works for me. 

Will you get that treasured or useful item today - right now?  Perhaps… but only if you beat the clock before the timer runs out!  What a deal!

There’s a hot new item out!  It’s called a Kindle, which is another device that can store books and other items which you can read at your own leisure.

There’s other reader devices out there, but this one looks a lot better than the others that I have seen.  Compare all the bells & whistles for yourself and I’m sure you’ll agree that this is one cool toy to have!

They are so popular right now (which is no surprise considering all the neat features that this item has) that if you want to buy it, you have to be put on a waiting list to get it!

Heroes, House, CSI.  Those are some of My Favorite TV Shows.  They might be yours too, as they are pretty popular!  We all have our own ones for different reasons.  Whether we like the stories that are told, the characters within, or another factor, television is a very addicting habit, but albeit, an escape from everyday life in general. 

For those who really have a connection with a certain show, did you know that most networks have their own stores where they sell items for those TV shows?  Items range from promotional merchandise, gadgets used in the shows, props that were part of one episode, and many other neat gifts that remind us of our favorite tv show.

Of course, now that the writers strike is going on, we can catch up on missed episodes, or find other shows to watch for the time being until the new programs start back up.  Just don’t get attached to those other TV shows, else they may collide with your old ones once they come back on!

Just about every tv network has a shop where you can acquire that favorite special gizmo that will make your viewing experience more real.  A special memorable token.  A conversation piece so your friends know where your alliance or support goes to.  Perhaps a collectible that you hope will appreciate in time that makes a great future investment that’s also able to be admired for now.  That House MD stethoscope is going to be truly valuable one day, I just know it! 

Whatever the case may be, I often find myself browsing thru these places just to see the ocasional kooky items that they do have.  Who buys some of this stuff, I wonder?  Heck, even the WWE wrestling fans have a place to go to support their favorite passion.  Poker fan?  Don’t worry, there’s a place where you can look like a cool high roller as well!  Even if it’s only in your own home with your friends!

Directory Listings are a necessity to provide your websites with backlinks, whether they be one way or reciprocal.  Think about a directory like a phone book.  People can look up the entries (websites) that are listed in the directory.  As with a phone book, if no one is actually looking through it, your listing will not be seen.  This doesn’t mean that it isn’t a worthwhile thing to do however, as every one of these directory listings that you get acts as a link to your website, which in turn will help you get ranked better by the other search engines (which is what doing all this is really meant for).  This is a slow process however, so realize results are not going to be seen overnight.  There are a lot of people submitting their own websites to the many directories available.  What this means is you should start including your websites into them as soon as possible.  Some directories take months to get listed in with the backlog of entries waiting for submission.

To make the process of doing this a bit easier, Brad Callen has a software program called Directory Submitter.  This is a very easy tool to use, and sure beats having to retype the same info in the forms numerous times!  Submit Your Website To Thousands Of Website Directories Instantly   Did you know there are literally thousands of these directories on the web?  Using a program that has a lot of them listed already makes it very convenient!  You don’t have to search for all of them.  Of course, it’s still time consuming to go through the process of submittal, but you can get listed in more directories faster by using a program like this than not using one.  The above mentioned program (free, by the way) has over 350 directories included, which is a great start.  There’s an upgrade available that has over 1700 when you’re ready for it (very inexpensive for what you get).  This program is in my own personal arsenal of tools to use to promote my websites.  It’s also the preferred directory submitter to use as its one of the easier ones to use.

When submitting your directory listings, be sure to pace yourself.  You want the links that you get to “look” natural to the search engines.  By that I mean you don’t want to get 300 links overnight!  Perhaps try to get just 25 a day.  This looks very natural to the search engines, like the owner of the website is building links for his site via an uncontrolled method (such as NOT using a tool like this!).  The nature of any website is to have links coming & going to/from it, so the search engines “know” you are going to have some, just try to keep them looking like they were all done manually.  Because of the backlog of submitted websites, the reality of getting the links will not really be acquiring 25 a day, more likely, you may get a dozen or more every day since some directories are quicker in the approval process than others.  That’s why you need to submit to 25, so you can hopefully get a dozen or more every day.

This should be a daily chore if you want to keep the exposure and traffic coming.  Alternatively, if you can’t do this daily, schedule it into your week somehow, perhaps twice or three times a week.  Just keep it consistent all the time, for the natural look & to make sure you get visitors dropping by your site.

Directory Listings - Get Listed!  Go ahead, start today, and tomorrow, and the next, and so on.  Your title that you use for the directory is sometimes your text link (keyword), so you may just get into that #1 Google spot yet if you try hard enough!
